Jewellers by Appointment

Sign above C T Maine's shop. C T Maine in King Street, traded as a jewellers and silversmith since 1896. One of Jersey's oldest family-run businesses it closed in 2009. A contribution to signs, signs.

Sad to see this old family business close; I guess it's the same everywhere, hard for family business to compete. The sign is beautiful and I hope it either stays there or goes to a public museum.

It must have been heart wrenching to close this family business.

What a treasure of a sign. I am so glad it is still standing. Love the colors and all the ornate carvings. Great shot. genie

It says "the late King George V" who died in 1936, so it's very late indeed.

Interesting sign. Hard to find American Royalists. Too bad the store went out of business.
